The price we pay for all of this wonderful technological innovation is it is complicated, and sometimes doesn't work as it should. Who ever thought 20 years ago that future media players, receivers, or TVs would crash and need to be rebooted/and or reset?
I started with a Slim Devices SB3, but moved on to an Olive 4 due to the WOW factor. After 2+ years I got fed up with Olive's closed system, the software/GUI not working correctly, and the lack of some features on the Olive that we take for granted on the Squeezebox (for example, there is no way to generate any kind of "smart" or "dynamic" playlist with the Olive, and playlist creation is a real PITA). I considered going the UPNP/DLNA route, but I could never get that to work with my current supposedly UPNP/DLNA compatible components to my satisfaction. I also considered Sonos, but after reading some Sonus forums, I realized that the Sonos product wasn't perfect either. I decided to go back to Squeezebox since I was at least familiar with it. The other thing about Sonos that wouldn't work for me is my wife would not be willing to control streaming radio stations via an iPhone, tablet, etc. She wants conventional physical radio controls on the player, which as far as I can tell, Sonos does not offer. -- vrette (3) SB Touch, (3) SB Radio, Cambridge Audio 840AV2, 340T, DacMagic, B&W 683, HSU VFT2-MK3, Logitech Harmony 880, 7.6.1 on Asus E35M1-M PRO Win7 64 bit , and a bunch of other stuff... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ vrette's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89411 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
