Perhaps one intermediate step, rather than playing around with JRMC, is to see if you can get things working inside WMP 12 itself. You should easily be able to Browse the Content Directory "Your Library (by Whitebear)" and you should be able to Play To "Your Player (by Whitebear)". The screenshots on http://www.whitebear.ch/mediaserver show how it looks. This works pretty much out-of-the box automatically... Then if it does work with WMP 12, you know that the OS / firewall / networking / Microsoft / stuff is all fine, and the "only" remaining problem is JRMC.
