The duet definitely had some growing pains. I wasn't exactly an early adoptor and I had a lot of trouble setting it up. 6 months or so later, my brother (much less techy than me) bought one and had no trouble at all. So it did get better. At the time, it was really cool. By today's standards, the display is pretty low rez and the controller is a bit bulky, but it certainly works well. The changes they made to the controller's UI with the 7.x releases was a big improvement too!
It's hard to say how things would have turned out if SD was never acquired by Logitech. I like that Logitech broadened availablity through a large variety of retailers. I don't like that Logitech is now struggling and the Squeezebox line isn't exactly their core competency. If Logitech didn't buy SD, we still would have seen the Boom - that was probably already in flight prior to the purchase. Perhaps the duet and radio would have been skipped and we would have jumped right to the Touch. -- maggior Rich --------- Setup: 2 SB3s, 4 Booms, 1 Duet, 1 Receiver, 1 Touch, iPeng on iPod Touch, SqueezeCommander on Xoom.
