I don't want to throw away the idea, that your WiFi is shutting down as well. With the same download buffer an mp3 can be downloaded completely (maybe even parts of the next one) so maybe also mp3s are having issues, but you don't realize it when you don't wait long enough (compared to a FLAC). As a try could you also install the "WifiKeepAlive" App and see if it improves the situation? If that does not help, please provide me with a log from the 'aLogCat' app as well, maybe we can see the reasons in there.
