DSD is kinda complex and I think that is what makes it interesting. Some
part of DSD was that you could archive hi sample rates with it. There
are recording that were made at strange sample rates or high sample
rates, but were not actually DSD per say. One that comes to mind was
recorded at 50kHz. It was released on CD and thus down sampled. The only
way to have access to the original 50kHz master is to rip the SACD. Some
analog recordings were archived in DSD and the only way to get to them
is again by ripping the SACDs. Some SACDs were actually DSD/DXD
recordings and thus you have a master from the SACD rips. 

I'm not against DSD2PCM conversion (I have a product that does this)
because it solves a problem for people.

I know it's not for everyone, but it's still an important aspect of
computer audio...
