Aaaaannnndd.. It works! I played around a bit, in the wrong direction first because I thought it need to set the delay on the 'leading' device rather than tell the server 'this device is slower by xxx ms'. An even 250ms seems to have done the trick
It's the normal iPad connector/charging cable that connects. It has Apple connector on one end and USB on the other.
