  - Rating stars for local tracks
  - "love" for remote tracks (theoretically also for local ones but

  - Add to Favorites
  - "star" for Spotify (and theoretically other services)

OK. Let me take my best shot at convincing you

- Erland's awesome Trackstat plugin supports a 10 point rating scale.
More compatibility with that would be great.
- Trackstat dynamic ratings create ratings that would display better
  with a finer-grained star control
- While I know that much of the world is increasingly focused on
streaming, the Squeezebox community is full of people with carefully
curated and tagged collection of many thousands of songs. 5 points
don't really cut it for such collections.
- If people only have ratings that are a multiple of 20, it will
display exactly like it does now, but for people who have
finer-grained ratings it will display better
- Working better with Last.FM is certainly a plus, esp. in Squeezebox
  community
- IIUC, iTunes displays half stars for Last.FM
- We already know it works great on SqueezeCommander. There are zero
posts complaining about that. Admittedly, there are none lauding it
(although I am about to add one, because I love it), but people are
much more likely to complain about things they don't like.
- While it is technically "more complicated," I am having trouble
understanding how anyone could find it confusing. My guess is people
who don't care about it won't even notice.
- If you wanted, you could make it a setting like trackstat does.
People who don't want half star will never even worry about it

My bottom line is that while it's not a world-changing feature (although
it's important to me, so I'd be happy to make a donation to help support
it), there are a bunch of upsides, and I personally don't see much, if
any, of a downside (I know some will disagree).
