Yeah, this is very like the receiver in terms of usage except it has in-built support for a much wider range of streaming music services than the Squeezebox/LMS currently does and streaming support is ever decreasing for Squeezebox, unfortunately. It'd be great if LMS included support for the casting protocol that Chromecast uses as it doesn't need to just be a receiver for internet streaming - local audio streaming from your mobile device or Chrome browser is already supported so it should be possible to build in support to LMS. Codec support seems pretty strong too: https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media ... HE-AAC, LC-AAC, MP3, Vorbis, WAV (LPCM), FLAC are supported along with up to 24bit/96kHz output. Combine that with plugins to allow LMS to initiate streams from online sources and you'd have a solid replacement for the non-standalone Squeezeboxes. There's a good chance that devices will be built that have amp and speakers like the Boom and Radio at some point in the future, assuming that the device catches on, and you have a complete replacement solution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ slimfast's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29669 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104383 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
