There seems to be some confusion here - I'm not talking about making a Squeezebox or LMS emulate a Chromecast. I'm talking about having the LMS software natively support Chromecasts as an output device for their audio streams of locally stored music files (as an alternative to Squeezebox hardware) and additionally, maybe to have the capability of LMS acting as the broker to point a streaming service at a Chromecast the same way you would currently do from an app that offers casting support for cloud streaming. eg. TuneIn can play on your mobile device or you can 'cast' instead in which case the cloud server sends the stream directly to the Chromecast, the mobile device isn't involved except as maybe in the role of a controller input and status display. I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to request the connection is set up from LMS as opposed to an app on the phone. Any copy protection etc is implemented via the connection from the cloud server to the Chromecast, no? Or is the issue that it would be tricky to get Google to allow LMS to be treated as a remote controller/display? Another example: Bubble uPnP will support sending streams from your Android phone/tablet to Chromecast - there's clearly an API that would allow you to cast media on your own device, from your own device. Or is this API only available via libraries on the Android/iOS devices? I've not heard of Chromebridge , searching doesn't throw up any relevant results. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ slimfast's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29669 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104383 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
