Generally with networking - simple is best. Minimise hops that data takes and avoid multiple wifi LANs especially one with same ssid. Every complexity adds an opportunity for a problem so each possibility has to be considered and eliminated. Can you get each ddwrt to display which receivers are actually "connected" to it.
