router is on, but is it connected to the internet? All my isp's have taken some time for that to happen. That causes mine to get goofy, pi comes up quickly. The pcP team can tell you how quick the pi is looking for the net. Turning squeezelite off was in the original instruction (pcP 4 I think) for setting up a server only. I have the same situation as you, I can turn off then on the pi, no problem. Power failure - problem, but, I can recover without redoing the SD.
