Thanks BillC for the info on DB Poweramp music converter. It really is a nice program to use. I converted one album although it took 22 mins on my laptop. Need to use my much more powerful desktop otherwise it is going to take several weeks to convert all the files. Certainly much slower than ripping although saves all the hassle of keep swapping the CD's.
An update: Still cannot get WMA Lossless to work. I have sent a file to Paul to see if he has the same issue. Interestingly, on the DB Poweramp website it says that WMA Lossless will NOT work on portable players. Does the Squeezebox count as a portable player?? But if this is the case why does it work when pulling the files straight from my PC and not when from the Qnap. Anyway, converted one album from WMA Lossless to FLAC and it works just fine. Sounds really very good. Overall, this setup is very good. The Squeezebox is really superb. This is only the second product that the Wife has really taken to (Sky+ the other) both because they are so simple to use and you don't therefore have to be a gadget nutter (like me) to use them. Despite the teething problems the Qnap seems to work really well, I have been waiting for this sort of product for some time and this one certainly does what it says on the tin. One final thing. In line with an earlier comment in this thread it never goes into standby. Even when its the only thing on the network the LAN light keeps flickering indicating some activity. Perhaps this is what keeps it on although not sure what the data moving actually is. -- Trumper1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trumper1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4490 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20393 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
