You can buy a 250gb external drive for less than $100. I did that just to have a backup for my flac files and then ended up taking it to work and using a small-footprint player (musikCube) on my laptop to play through powered speakers. I also downloaded CD Art Display, so I have a little popup with album art, title, etc. to show me what track is playing -- all for a fraction of the system resources that Slimserver uses. If you don't already have a backup of your flac files, the peace of mind alone is worth the cost of the HDD.
