I've never heard a screech, or read about it on the forum for that matter, and have been using my wired Sb3's digital out for about a year. Have you checked the digital and/or other cables to make sure they're secure and in good shape? Any other D/A converters you can try? Maybe it's losing its lock on the signal intermittently.
