Music is meant to be heard and file sharing accomplishes that (remember when radio used to?). Recordings should be considered a form of advertisement for the musicians to support ticket sales to their live performances.
Cut out the record companies, cut out the Ticketmaster, and cut out the musicians who can't actually perform well enough to earn a living through live performance (there are a LOT of those).
