Explicit COMPILATION tags shouldn't be necessary in most cases. It's easy when working with certain types of files - Flac, Ogg, Ape, even Mp3. Not so easy with others. There must be some type of compilation logic beyond this, and I don't think it's perfect. In the web interface it's easy enough to get to the "full" album.
