Learning VO has turned out to be more difficult than I imagined.

Hi Harry, it might be worth checking out the guide on the wiki:

It is the guide I wish I had found when starting to learn. (Thanks Tim!)

I can understand NFB asking Microsoft not to include a screen reader as it means there is competition. There are 2/3 main screen reader vendors on Windows, and they would probably (have to) give up if Microsoft made an built-in one.

But no-one made a screen reader for OSX until Apple did (on version 3 of OSX?), so you can't really blame Apple for taking that on.

Unfortunately it's application support that will prevent many people from having a choice to move from Windows, you simply couldn't work in many offices without good outlook access. NB: That JAWs works with so many applications isn't really thanks to Microsoft, the screen readers have custom scripts to work with pretty much any program.

Kind regards,

-Alastair
