Hi Richie,
Best of luck to you. I personally think that is a fantastic situation for you, and one in which you can truly help the progression of Mac awareness and market share.

It's just a matter of time before DVR and other similar agencies will not have a justification to ignore the Mac. As accessibility grows, it will not be able to be ignored. The Braille display use, one of those improvements to VO I alluded to in a prior message, shatters that particular criticism of VO. From my understanding, Apple often does not reveal a good 75 percent of what is to come in a release, so who knows what else we shall find in VO with Leopard

As for the NFB, I don't know what the word is on Leopard. Perhaps, we have folks on the NFB list or who are members who can post on this subject here. All I can tell you was the reception to VO last year pretty much bordered hostility in some cases.

Take Care

John, I have debated with our local Anchorage office of Division of Vocational rehabilitation (DVR) and they keep telling me it's up to the center's executive director, what sort of curriculum they set up. I went to the Alaska Mac Store and applied for a job there, and I will begin working there in two weeks. One of the things they want to do is have me work with blind and visually-impaired customers with voiceOver, since I'm only one of about four Mac users in the entire state who is blind. The store is really looking forward to gaining that marketshare, and when I told my boss about Leopard's support for braille displays, she was excited about getting that marketshare statewide. She is shocked that DVR doesn't put more pressure on the center to include VoiceOver in their curriculum. And speaking of NFB, how are they receiving the VoiceOver revolution?
