John, I have debated with our local Anchorage office of Division of
Vocational rehabilitation (DVR) and they keep telling me it's up to the
center's executive director, what sort of curriculum they set up. I
went to the Alaska Mac Store and applied for a job there, and I will
begin working there in two weeks. One of the things they want to do is
have me work with blind and visually-impaired customers with voiceOver,
since I'm only one of about four Mac users in the entire state who is
blind. The store is really looking forward to gaining that
marketshare, and when I told my boss about Leopard's support for
braille displays, she was excited about getting that marketshare
statewide. She is shocked that DVR doesn't put more pressure on the
center to include VoiceOver in their curriculum. And speaking of NFB,
how are they receiving the VoiceOver revolution? Richie Gardenhire,
Anchorage, Alaska.
