Hi All,
Our talking interface thread which is splendid thanks to all who've
made positive and thoughtful contributions, has spawned another idea
which I'm hoping will also spawn a fine and thoughtful discussion.
I'm calling out to those Mac Folk who are not blind who use VO for
one reason or another.
We've talked about the fact that every Mac comes with VO built in.
I've run into folk who don't even know this and have gotten Macs
since VO began to appear on them. Some others say they've played
with it a bit, but What I want to look at here is how easy it can be
to test development work with VO. Are you prone to turn VO on and
point and click? If so, would this be enough? If development is
going to have any validity for folk who do not use VO but want to
test with it, VO needs to work sort of like a Sighted person who uses
the computer works. Most folk are not going to want to learn the
interface just so they can test their code.
The answer to the divide may be VO but as has been pointed out, we
aren't there yet and this I believe is partly due to the fact that we
have been on a path of rrequirement to use a different approach and
interface on all platforms and in all instances.
At any rate, if you are not a person who is blind and you use VO,
please share your thoughts? If you know someone who uses VO who is
not blind, Please invite them to share their thoughts or forward with
permission.
Thanks!
