Cheryl, the slide switch locks the camera assembly so you will slide it away from the position it was in when you unpacked it. If the scanner is sitting so the glass-side is up, in its normal operating position, the switch should be to the left. There is an installer script on the cd, but I know there is an installer app which is tough to use. I'd have to dig up my disc and recall how I installed it, sorry my memory is failing me these days.grin I recall you have to install the toolbox program and then the drivers in that order acording to the info I gto from the web site. I honestly do not recall what the buttons are on the front, I'll have to ask my wife, but the one third over from the left is the one Greg was talking about that creates/dumps the scanned image into a pdf file.

In addition to my previous questions, I just found a slide switch with two positions on the bottom of the scanner; didn't notice them before because there was tape across it. Is this a power switch? If so, which way is on and can you hear anything that tells you if it is on? I do have it plugged in to my usb hub.
