There is a mail-archive search that you can execute from:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/

This starts from December 2, 2005, so you won't get earlier
entries.  You can bookmark this page.  Typing a set of
search words in the find box returns pages with a series of
links to posts which match all words, along with brief excerpts
giving the post context. Boolean logic and phrase matching 
are not supported.

Typing "iTunes" and "carbon" as search terms gets you 34 
entries, with a slew of postings between September 8 and 
22.  This search is easier to use than subject searches, since
the discussion spilled over more than one thread
