I thought I would share this with you guys. It has taken quite a bit of lobbying and a long time, but I am happy to announce that today the prices for the Infovox iVox voices were permanently lowered. Originally introduced as a solution for the low volume accessibility market, it was found that also many educators and consumers wanted to use these naturally sounding voices to listen to documents, create personal podcasts and to help struggling readers. With the new prices the voices are now within reach of educators, students, people with disabilities as well as any other Mac user who likes to hear his Macintosh speak. That includes you guys :-)

All voices except the Scandinavian ones are now 99 USD/Euro for the first language, with each language typically including multiple voices plus the US Heather bonus voice, and 49.50 USD/euro for any additional languages. Scandinavian voices were also lowered in price. For more info see our press release: http://www.assistiveware.com/ pr.php#PR151007

Now some of you who bought the Infovox iVox voices in the past for a higher price may be annoyed about the price drop, but please keep in mind that if you would not have bought the voices I would never have been able to show enough volume to Acapela Group to convince them to offer the voices at lower prices. Many people can now benefit from the lower prices and with Leopard's upcoming multilingual support for VoiceOver the better priced Infovox iVox voices will help expand the VoiceOver user community. Also keep in mind that you would not have been enjoying the voices if you had not bought them already.

Finally, last week a new version of VisioVoice was released with greater VoiceOver compatibility and many other changes. Read more about it here: http://www.assistiveware.com/pr.php#PR101007

Cheers,

david.
