I suspect that had the tone of your first email been a little different
more people would have flocked to try to answer you. You're certainly
entitled to express yourself, but when people read a rather harsh email
that insinuates they won't be honest, it's human nature not to feel so
inclined to reply. Stating your needs clearly and asking people to tell
you whether they could or could not effectively use Leopard for these
activities might have gotten you more response. I do understand your
frustration with the squabbles that sometimes arise on the list, but
there's plenty of solid content if you choose to overlook this.
I presently use linux, Windows and the Mac. I can do email with no
problem; browsing the web with no problems usually though as has been
mentioned some sites deliberately make it difficult for anybody not using
internet Explorer; editing files, though I don't do a lot with Word
files--there are some alternatives for this but I'll let others discuss
that; listening to audio and converting between different audio types. I
do tend to try things on my linux machine first because I can use brltty
on linux while Leopard doesn't support the braillelite; I do have brltty
set up in the Terminal. As for solving "all" of my computing problems, I
don't find that any available system does that; that's why I run three
different operating systems.
