Well, I wouldn't call it West LA either, <smile> but that's what
they call it on their lil greeting msg when you call that particular
store... And info can never seem to find one located in Century
city. but hey, as long as we all know where we're talking about /
going! <smile>
yeah, Monday night probably wouldn't be the time I'd pick to go
either. ick!...
Out of curiosity, what was the prob you were having?...
Smiles,
Cara :)

Hmm, I've never heard anyone refer to that one as being the one in
west LA,
cause that's sort of pretty general and there's a couple stores that
might
fall under that category.
I don't know what it is, but I never get an opening for a spot. The
last
one was a Monday night at 7pm or something stupid. At least the
store is
only like a 5 minute drive from home, but that's still fairly
annoying.
On the flip side, I've had a fair amount of awesome customer service
from
Apple, it's just that as far as their stores are concerned it's not
the
best.

wow! lovely note indeed! <smile> assuming you addressed it to
me personally as I'm in the same area?...
Definitely sounds very aggravating!
When you're saying Century City, are you referring to the one in
the West Field Shopping Town on Santamonica blvd in West LA? I
believe it *is* technically in century City but they call it the West
LA Apple store as far as info is concerned...
Anyway, if that's the one, then that's also the one that I've had
great service at. It's also always packed though too, so I'm betting
that's part of why you've had so much trouble...
it may also depend on the time of the week you come in. I find that
on
the weekends, the staff seem a bit more knowledgeable in terms of
actual tech specs and such. They've always been willing to take time
to give me far and above the attention I want, but if I had a tech
issue I'd probably shoot for the weekends!... lol!
Anyway, sorry to hear your troubles... I obviously wish you the
best...
Smiles,
CQ :)

Hey Cara.
I had a problem with my MacBook and tried to make concierge
appointments at
the half dozen Apple Stores in and around LA - Century City, Grove,
Beverly
Center, Santa Monica, Glendale, Northridge, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks -
and
none of them had open spots for the Genius Bar. A week after
looking at the
concierge sites every few hours, I managed to snag one at Century
City two
days in advance at the only time that was available which was highly
inconvenient, and ended up with an empty brained infuriating Genius
who
didn't solve the problem because I found a workaround during that
week it
took to get an appointment but would have liked to get the problem
looked at
anyway. The alternative was waiting in the standby line for an
indeterminable amount of time at which point you may not even be
able to see
anybody.
However, to counter that point, I don't know why I have so much
trouble here
in LA, but I had zero trouble up at the San Francisco store back
during WWDC
where an extremely courteous genius helped me out with my broken
power
adapter and on my way in under 10 minutes of walking into the store,
even
though my appointment was not till way later.
I miss the days when Glendale was one of the only stores in the
entire
country and I only had to wait 10 minutes before seeing a genius who
actually knew more about Macs than I did. Nowadays, it's a two day
wait at
an inconvenient time to get some dimwit who got scant amounts of
training
and seems to hate talking to customers. Wonder if it's some devious
plan to
get people to buy ProCare and to call in and talk to incompetent
call center
staff instead of going to the store to wait in a long line only to
get
pissed off about the level of service..or rather, the lack thereof.
cheers,
jane

David, thanks for posting this. -A very good read!...
This is exactly the feel I get in the West LA store. It's way hip
and
someplace I actually *enjoy* being, as electronics stores go.
<smile>
anyway, have a great day!...
Smiles,
Cara :)
