Hi Jane, Cara, Darcy, and Others, I meant to follow up on this thread earlier when some folks were saying how they wished they had an Apple Store close to them. While making an earlier post to list about how to make concierge appointments with the genius bar at your local Apple Store on the web, I came across a "fan" site about Apple Stores, their history, etc. One of the pages was about how to iChatAV with an Apple Store. This gave the iChat screen names for computers on the show room of retail Apple Stores. The author tried about 60 of these stores randomly, and got typically only 3 or 4 of these with machines running iChatAV at these random times. In general, somebody had to be near one of these computers who knew how to answer an iChat session and be willing to respond, and that generally meant using the video portion of iChat to get somebody's attention.
Still, how cool would it be if the next time a list member went to visit an Apple Store you could all find one of these active machines and start an iChat session with your questions about new features/products to check out! I can even imagine Darcy and Holly recording one of these sessions for Screenless Switchers (smile). Here's the link to the page about "iChatAV with Apple Store": http://www.ifoapplestore.com/stores/ichatav.html The Apple Store computers all have screen names like ars047.05 where the first part is the Apple Retail Store number and the last two digits are the computer number. And the post about how to make a genius bar appointment on the web, assuming that you can get to a nearby Apple Store, is at this URL in the mailing list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/discuss%40macvisionaries.com/msg19144.html Cheers, Esther >> >> On Nov 25, 2007, at 3:51 PM, Jane Lee wrote: >> >> >> >>> Hey Cara. >> >>> I had a problem with my MacBook and tried to make concierge >> >>> appointments at >> >>> the half dozen Apple Stores in and around LA - Century City, Grove, >> >>> Beverly >> >>> Center, Santa Monica, Glendale, Northridge, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks - >> >>> and >> >>> none of them had open spots for the Genius Bar.
