Unless my alias is different than yours I can delete pod-cast from my alias folder and they still reside in the original. Do I need to restart or something in order for the alias to update with the original?

Yes, the alias just is a convenient way of opening the folder which will be updated whether or ot you bring it up through the alias. this is the same
thing as creating a shortcut in windows.

I almost understand what you are saying, but in the instance of the
pod-cast folder in my Music folder you are saying just move that
folder to the new place on the system. In regards to the alias I don't
understand it's purpose. If I create a alias for this folder on my
Desktop what is it's purpose? If a new pod-cast is added the alias
knows nothing about it. In other words it's not updated like the
original.

You copy the folder to where you want it. The point of aliases is
partially what you're describing. You wouldn't want an alias that
removes the file it points to when you delete it, yes? In that
case, why not simply copy your original folder to the locale that
you'd like it to be in?...

An alias is simply a pointer. YOu can move or delete or do anything
you want to the pointer, and leave the object it points to alone.

I noticed that when I do this and delete something from the alias
folder it doesn't update the main folder. For example I have a pod-
cast folder three or four levels into my Music folder. I created a
alias to the pod-cast folder on my desktop. When I delete a podcast
it doesn't delete from the original pod-cast folder. What do I do
or create for this?

What you are talking about are called Aliases. You can use VO-
Shift-M on a file or folder and choose "Make Alias." Then you can
copy that Alias to the Desktop or wherever you want it.
