Hi Tiffanitsa, -very pretty name btw...
To check the time or your battery level, press VO M (ctrl option M)
twice. this will get you to the status icons which you can navigate
with left / right arrows. Once you're on an icon you'd like more info
about, use the up /down arrows and you'll be placed in a menu with
more options / info for you...

PS. I just saw that the Macbook warns me when the battery is low and
then tells me when it's on reserve power! I love this! How do I
check the battery level? I have it set to the battery saving settings
(not the right term, but you know what I mean) and it's incredible how
long it lasts, even when I'm running things like my wireless internet,
Skype and downloading all those files. Oh, is there a way to check
the time like I can with Hal or JFW and how to I set the date and time
so it's ddmmyy? Sorry, but these just came to me.
