Yes, connecting through ethernet for the initial configuration is
always best when using non-Apple wireless systems.  I also read
somewhere that the NetGear WGR614 v6 is the only NetGear router that
works properly with the AE WDS protocols.  If your using the WGR 614
v5, it won't work properly.
