how to setup first apple

I have been using my "new" computer for several months now, I was  
wondering how all of you have things such as the mouse setup. SDo you  
have it follow the v.o. cursor or do you have it set to do nothing...  
Other things like how do you have safari setup. Do you have it set to  
google or is there a better search engine to use with voice over.  
should I turn off the extra things in safari like all the extra bars  
that read off the favorites.

Just wondering how I can maxamize my efficency in using my new mac.
