Hi Dan,
It's great to know you've purchased a mac and are enjoying using it.
I brought mine a few months ago and I was amazed to take it out of
it's box and start using it straightaway. Yes VoiceOver has a way to
go to be as advanced as Jaws for example but Apple really haven't done
bad.
Anyway as for what you asked, I can not really comment on mouse as I
am totally blind therefore don't use the mouse!!!
As for Safari I have it set to Google however I'm sure you could set
it up to start with other search engines, I think this is down to
personal preference though.
If you need any more help I'll gladly try and be of assistance.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch and good luck with your new Mac!!!
Best wishes,

I have been using my "new" computer for several months now, I was
wondering how all of you have things such as the mouse setup. SDo
you have it follow the v.o. cursor or do you have it set to do
nothing... Other things like how do you have safari setup. Do you
have it set to google or is there a better search engine to use with
voice over. should I turn off the extra things in safari like all
the extra bars that read off the favorites.
Just wondering how I can maxamize my efficency in using my new mac.
all comments welcome.
Thank you as a new appler.
