Hello Jacob,
I've also attempted numerous times to get additional information regarding Omni Page and like you, nothing was forthcoming. I get the feeling that it might be dead in the water.

Read Iris is actually the best OCR I've found for OS X, at least so far. It's commercial at $129 but they occasionally run specials especially around the holidays for $59. However, Iris's scanning features are pretty pathetic, all it can do is open the scanner driver. This is what I use Vuescan for, you can set it up so that when you scan with Vuescan it feeds the image straight into Iris as if you had scanned from within Iris itself. Iris's OCR is very good, despite its lousy scanning abilities, so I use both programs in conjunction. Vuescan's OCR is pretty pathetic, but its scanning features are some of the best around. If you find anything out about Omnipage for Mac please let us all know. Nuance won't tell me much except the price and that the product is still available, but they're giving me the distinct impression that it is no longer being developed. Their web page backs this impression up when I look at it--it hasn't changed since I got my Mac in 2005 except for the name change to Nuance. If they let you know more please share it with us.

I'm also looking at other alternatives like Omnipage Pro etc. What's
the most accessible one, whether commercial or free? Is it Vuescan or
something else? Btw, I installed the MP Navigator software from
Cannon but couldn't get it to work at all. It makes a dinging sound
and my bf said the screen says that there was an error in
installation. The menu utility is also a joke and I can't access it
at all.

Hi,

I have a trial, and can't even get my computer to see my scanner, even thoug I installed all drivers. It is a Brother MFC 420 All-in-one box.

Thanks for listening,
Alex,

Okay, so I installed the driver for my Canoscan 5600f and Vuescan
recognised it. I told it to scan text and to use simple text editor. But after I scanned, I didn't see any window with the text. What am I doing wrong? Can someone briefly give me the instructions on how to
use Vuescan with VoiceOver?

Thanks,
