Hi Daniel, It's refreshing to hear you maintaining that position.
This whole issue was mad from the beginning. I will object any "usability lab" that produce such anti-usability decisions like this. Even more if the "reason" argued is to "comply with Windows UI rules", is absolutely nonsense, since the former quickstart was as compliant as this one (or more).
Two hundred votes to restore an existing function!!
How many votes are needed to actually add some new functionality to OOO? Anything that will need some days of thinking and work? It seems that some specs are enforced more that others (to paraphrase Orwell's Napoleon)
Perhaps you may raise a concern at the Community Council about developer bias, and the validity of that usability labs. As Andrew points out, these newsgroups and mailing lists are a quite direct indication of what users consider "usable".
I am not blaming SUN developers. After using OOo 2.0b for some weeks now, I appreciate more and more subtle but good changes (in adittion to the big ones, like toolbars etc.).
