Yes, it is a Windows XP install. What is the meaning of the Help text:
"Check for Updates
This command is available for the full versions of OpenOffice.org,
StarOffice and StarSuite only. "
I think it means "the full versions of OOo: namely StarOffice and
StarSuite". Which sounds a bit unfortunate, because StarOffice is no
"fuller" OOo, but a different product that is based on OOo.
However, I am also a bit confused: OOo main page [1] the update is
announced as a new feature ("built-in check for updated versions").
The Help obviously says it is only available for StarOffice/StarSuite,
and it seems to be true for the Windows install but not the Linux one?
Seems a bit inconsistent to me.
