Twayne,

was it you that introduced this No-Archive header? If so, it doesn't work:

Back to your comments, starting from here:

Then please stop resending whole messages that all the subscribers, by
definition, have already received (spending more than needed of their
own money, if they haven't a flat rate connection): trim as much as
possible before replying and then add your answer below, not above the
quoted text. It's standard netiquette, at least for public forums,
since the 80's at least, and mentioned in the links provided here:
http://www.openoffice.org/ml_guidelines.html

This said, you're probably right that I should have started a new
thread for this, sorry.

Let's be serious, please. A tirade is (M-W online) "a protracted
speech usually marked by intemperate, vituperative, or harshly
censorious language". The "against MS" part of that message, which is
here:

http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=discuss&msgNo=64417

is the one starting with "The producers of Microsoft Word...", that is
about four lines of text summing up in the plainest possible way a
sure fact described in detail for decades all around the Internet.

As far as I was concerned, the thread was over with that message. What
triggered me to continue was only:

- your insisting that sending files in proprietary formats isn't just
a necessary evil, but a good practice...

- ...backed by repeated proofs that you don't know enough some of the
basics yet to make certain statements (see my remarks on file
formats vs software products or other technologies)...

- ...proofs accompanied by your explicit assertion that you couldn't
be bothered to read the links provided as explanations of my
  statements.

I've been explaining that sending and accepting attachments in
proprietary formats is bad since before Stallman came out with his "We
can put an end to Word attachments" open letter:

http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=discuss&msgNo=8757

and all I can add now is this sentence I saw as an email signature ~3
years ago:

Please do not smoke in people's face and do not distribute doc
files publicly. This is not a technical issue. This is an
      ethical issue.

and a suggestion to also read, at least, all the links in the "Free
Formats for a more Free society" section of
http://mfioretti.com/marco-fioretti-main-publications

If, *after* studying, you'll still wish to debate the merits (not the
necessity) of distributing documents in proprietary file formats by
email or any other channel, by all means start a new thread and I'll
be happy to participate.

Regards,
        Marco Fioretti
