I understand the draw of saving money. However I don't see the cheaper DMMs
solving the problem proposed here though. What is lacking is precision
equipment to test digital circuits. One of the benefits of the community is
pooled resources. Anybody can afford a cheap DMM for battery testing or
continuity checking. Not everyone can justify the expense of a $60 DMM or a
$100 inductor tester.

I'm sure we have a simple analog volt meter/continuity tester in one of the
travel boxes. We used it at mini-makerfair last year. I'm pretty sure we
already have a cheap DMM floating around somewhere. If the one I recall was
on short term loan for build out I'd be happy to donate one.
