I think you may have missed the point of what Tony is doing. Currently we have no way of knowing what servers we have and where. The stuff he has currently written is just testing, and takes a 'straw poll' at the same time. As we no longer have SMOLT we have no idea where our users are or how many there are. To be able to better serve our users we need to know more about them.
