And I would very much like to lead this project but ONLY if it's something that is going to be widely - hence distributed as part of the core SME. If its something that is shared in the forum, then its waiste of time and will not give any insight.
I personally think that having some kind of better indication on how may servers are out there, which version, etc. will make it a lot more motivating for the contributors. I also think that there should a central group that gathers stats for the individual contribs (when they have been "approved") so that we know which is used and which is not.
