I have a number of mailing lists that use Postfix and was continuously being 
surprised by some new twist that was breaking the signatures.  I finally gave 
up trying to do everything in the same MTA and created a separate 
downstream MTA solely for the purpose of adding the signature.  It simplified 
the configuration and did not noticeably increase the machine load.
