Luckily, what Steve defaults to easily adapts to a 'local recursive
nameserver I want all my machines to use' situation.  I doubt he's
asserting that every host on the planet unconditionally should always
point /etc/resolv.conf to 127.0.0.1.  

System administration is a thing.
