It's not the amount of RAM.  I just put b63 on an Ultra5 with 128mb -
it took about 3 hours for a full OEM install, but it worked.

Can you do a Live Update install?

There has to be a way to modify the boot arguments on the DVD to make
the thing boot verbosely...
