I've had my 98 ES for about 10 months now and all is well except there's a few noises that bother me. When cold something in the engine compartment rattles something fierce. Can't pin it down. It only lasts about 30 seconds, then is gone until she gets cold again. That and there is excessive belt noise. I had new belts put on when I got the car since I was driving it across the country. I had to have the "mechanic" readjust one of them right away since as soon as I tested the AC that belt started screaming. He adjusted the tension on that and it has been ok (has "screamed" for a few seconds on two or three occasions). But either it, or the other one, is making too much noise just sitting at idle. Now, I've been living with this just because in the nice weather, this car doesn't get driven as I'm on my motorcycle whenever I can be, but alas winter is upon us in Michigan and I'm "caging it" all the time now. Anyway, can this noise be adjusted out or do I need a new belt again? It is a minor thing as you can't hear it in the car (the stereo is always blaring in this thing anyway, so I really couldn't tell you if it is audible or not from within the car) But bothers me to no end when I'm outside the car. This really is the only thing preventing me from truly loving this ride as it has otherwise proven to be a great car for me. PS she's got only 35,000 miles on her, only 9,000 or which or from me.
PSS I am also attempting to hunt down where the rear defogger is busted, any hints there would be nice, only just looked so far and couldn't see anything, broke out the multi-tester but don't remember how to use this one, it's new to me so, no progress there yet......continuity test I would think...... ------------------------ Yahoo!
