A quick easy way to help with so called "sludge" problem is use a bigger oil filter. You couls increase your amount by up to 1 qt. Om my 95 Lebaron with a fram I went from the factory PH16 to the big PH8A and its fits fine. I'm not sure if there are clearnce problems with the Intrepid but this is a old trick that really works.
