I'm impressed if you managed to run out of hours in the 6 year TBO time.
I don't know anyone else who has managed to do that.

Pull it off yourself if you feel comfortable doing it.
Undo ALL the nuts half off then, wriggle the prop forward on the flange and
undo them completely.
It has to be in 2 stages due to nut clearance to crankcase restrictions
Make sure someone has a GOOD grip on the prop when you take the last nut off.
It might be expensive if it falls off unattended.

Installation is more of an issue.
You need someone with engine ratings. Specifically component replacement
including the Prop.

>From my experience it NEVER comes back with the pitch right or the adjustment
>of the Swash Plate position isn't exactly the same as it was and usually both.
Generally the prop change arm position will need adjusting at the cable and the
pitch will need adjusting for best performance.
Cheers.
Nige.

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Variable pitch propeller - out of hours

  G'day everyone.

The prop on GJD runs out of hours at end of July.

I've spoken with Tom Gilbert (he does the Form 2's) and
he suggests we remove it ourselves and send it off to the
  propellor people.

Q1: Who are the propellor people? Does anyone have a
name/address/email etc. they might be able to share?

Q2: I don't have a Form 2 rating (just DI), but one of my
friends at Leeton (Al) does. Is this enough quals to legally
remove the prop, and more importantly, put it back on when
  I get it back?

Q3: Assuming it is ok for us to remove/re-install at Leeton,
does anyone have a manual or procedure for same? I'm assuming
that there'd have to be some sort of checklist to follow to do the
work properly. Can anyone help me out with that?

  Thanks in advance.

  John Mason - Leeton
