Hi John, I've used Australian Air props (Eric Western 97905295) many times. He has been in the past a lot cheaper than the Hoffman agent but has been cranking up his prices (presumably because he knows how expensive the alternative is). Once the prop comes back, bolt and tension using a crows foot socket attachment and new nylocks. Make your torque calculations taking into account that with the crows foot the torque wrench is offset from the centre of prop nut. Don't forget to make sure your pitch change rollers are touching the back plate together otherwise you will be putting some seriously uneven loads on your prop mechanism..... I think that this is the cause of a lot of those rod failures . Every time we've had a prop back from Eric the pitch has needed adjustment. cheers Rob

The prop on GJD runs out of hours at end of July. I've spoken with Tom Gilbert (he does the Form 2's) and he suggests we remove it ourselves and send it off to the propellor people. Q1: Who are the propellor people? Does anyone have a name/address/email etc. they might be able to share? Q2: I don't have a Form 2 rating (just DI), but one of my friends at Leeton (Al) does. Is this enough quals to legally remove the prop, and more importantly, put it back on when I get it back? Q3: Assuming it is ok for us to remove/re-install at Leeton, does anyone have a manual or procedure for same? I'm assuming that there'd have to be some sort of checklist to follow to do the work properly. Can anyone help me out with that? Thanks in advance.
