Hi All,

It is real interesting picking up the discussions re the H-36. I am working
through .I guess the best word is refurbishing an Ex Thai H-36 S/no 3537.
All good though. Solved the busted u/C question . the U/C as supplied is
from S/no 3512 so all OK.

However regarding the taco problem. Fluctuations like that generally is
lack of lubrication of the cable. I look after a Pawnee towplane and it has
similar problems.

A year or so ago, I went through the process of reinstalling a Limbach L2400
from a Stemme S10 into an older model Grob 109, replacing the stuffed L2000.
The L2400 did not have any taco drive so I ended up using a really nice VDO
electric taco. And it works very well, It was able to be calibrated against
a standard which was nice.

The VDO Taco itself was a little larger than the standard one, and was a
version which had an hour meter on it as well.

There are 2 methods of deriving a signal. One from the Magneto and the other
from the Alternator. I used the alternator drive (Because the tach could be
calibrated) and was easy, but also a feed can also be got from the Magneto
.. a small inductive pick up can be screwed into the top air vent of the
Mag. . it is a standard part from Spruce and Specs.

Of interest, I have a spare new one of those special rod ends (and bloody
expensive) for the forward tailplane attachment AD. Any offer that I can't
refuse would probably be accepted. It is the genuine article as supplied by
Diamond.

Best regards

I don't think the old Dimona problems go away Angel, they just become new
problems....

Hi,

I had a similar problem a number of years ago, and the drive cable broke
in-flight ( not nice ).

The cable broke down at the engine end. It may have been caused by a lack of
lubrication or a tight bend at that point.

I make a point of keeping the lubrication up to that cable now. I also
reduced the radius of the bend at that point (slightly).

I installed an electronic tacho kit( as a backup).

I hope this helps.

Another problem has arisen, the rpm indicator, has begun to large
oscillation especially at low rpm I removed the line and apparently is fine,
only the part that connects to the indicator I found traces of a substance
color like black rubber. Has this happened to someone who can help me?.
I don't now when my old Dimona problems disappear.
