Out where I live fibre is something you feed to horses. 

But I was talking to a BT man a few months ago and he did say that
eventually they would get fibre out to the green boxes, but that there
was some negotiating to do to arrange electricity to them first. 

With regard to 'local' wifi Broadband, I can see 14 wifi networks from
my USB stick hanging in the window. Another wifi would just about
pollute the ether completely. And for those of you that are wondering,
they are all encrypted.
