I didn't realise that Filezilla was available on Linux until I read references 
to it on the Ubuntu forums.  Once I was aware, I installed it and set it up 
exactly how they told me to.

There instructions were wrong, because I should have selected FTP over 
Explicit TLS/SSL, not 'FTP over Explicit SSH' as they said, which is not an 
option.

Still doesn't work though.  I get the same response as you and as I got with 
gFTP, so I'm thinking that there is almost certainly a special account or 
something and these guys are not telling me everything.

I've asked the question, but had no response yet.
