Hello!

This newsletter will be the latest of year 2011. As you may guess the
project activity is quite low due to the end of the year. So you won't
find much information in this letter covering two weeks of activity
though. This doesn't prevent our activities to have been of high
interest! Of course I wish you a happy end of year while waiting for
next year greetings ;).

All the best,
JM.

PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free
to answer this mail with your scoop!

Team
=====

* Sanjay Rajure (comprolive) asked to create the Marathi team.

Welcome to our project!

Organization
===========

* I'm in touch with the president of Wikimedia India thanks to Praveen.
They have just started to release school offline versions of Wikipedia
with digital contents coming from Wikisource. While we cannot use their
work yet because it targeted Malayalam only (and not Telugu), they are
looking for seeding this first work into other Indic languages.

NB: I'm planning to contact other national Wikimedia representatives.
Help appreciated to find contacts :).

Translations
============

* Translations were submitted on Transifex for Arabic (Karim), Gaelic
(Garratrans112) and Telugu (Praveen).

Please note that we're supposed to publish Gondwana 1.2 with improved
translations by mid January. I guess we'll be late!

Development
===========

* Gérald shared with me a build of Debian/Squeeze on armel, for our
Genesi Efika laptops. I tested several applications of DDL with
successes and failures due to graphic low end of the device. We hope
next device generation will bring lots of improvements on this side.
Anyway this doesn't prevent us from working on ARM!

* I started to feed our Debian package repository with armel/armhf
packages [1]. Indeed this is only “script” packages that don't require
compilation on the ARM platform.

* I posted a summary of our development activities [2] to let people
know what we are doing on this side of the project.

Artwork
=======

No news.

Website
=======

* I published two articles (in English) intended for developers:
“Posting Debian bug reports” and “Splitting a Debian package”.

Communication
=============

* Xavier started to create document templates for our association,
helped by our drawers [1][2]. He's started several communication tasks
as he reported in [2] (school install, contacts with media, with
foundations).

* No news from the FOSDEM event while all registrations should have
been accepted or rejected in late December :(. It's not good for us…

* The French article for a paper magazine is going on.

* Salvatore's monitoring of our DistroWatch rank [3] has been a bit disturbed
:).

* I recall that Salvatore launched the translation of our Wikipedia
article into English [4]. The idea is to split the effort among several
translators who understand Latin languages. Unfortunately we're still
lacking of volunteers :(.

Support
=======

* Georges Mariano asked help to build a French DDL CD from our scripts
[1] . Sadly our online documentation is too obsolete to make him
succeed…
