The relay circuit in the L-7 seems to be the same as the L-4B. The L-4B uses 30VDC and the relay draws about 50-60 mA. It has a Diode resistor "snubber" across the relay coil to snub the inductive kick generated when the relay opens.

Every time this question comes up, my answer is the same.

IF the numbers above are within the ratings of the transceiver relay, it MAY work just fine. On the other hand an external device such as the "Amp-Keyer" gives one a HUGE benefit. Think about it. IF you have to replace a relay, would you rather do it in the Amp-Keyer or inside that YaeComWood transceiver where it's a, available from the manufacturer only; b, probably buried under three other boards; and/or surrounded by surface mount components the size of a grain of salt!?!?

Hello to the group. Does anyone see a reason why the Drake L7 Amplifier would not play well with an Icom 756 Pro 2. Are there issues with keying voltage relays or will I be just fine. Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Lee NE6C
